As part of our Ecospec and Birubi businesses, the Superintendent will assist the General Superintendent and project management team in the effective delivery of projects by supervising and coordinating various civil construction site tasks and activities, including but not limited to: pipe laying, earthworks, road construction, structures and operate plant and machinery. The role will be responsible for the site-based delivery of Birubi and Ecospec, driving company objectives to ensure all our projects are delivered efficiently, safely and profitably and meet with our Client’s expectations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the organisation’s vision, create a sense of purpose and direction for the projects, its goals and objectives.
- Supervise all aspects of civil construction including pipe laying, road construction, earthworks and structures i.e. assign and monitor individual and crew tasks.
- Supervise all aspects of structural remediation, particularly Concrete and associated methods including hydro-demolition, coatings, jointing, repairs.
- Facilitate and administer the induction and orientation process for all Ecospec and Birubi, clients, subcontractors, contractors, labour hire, temporary agency staff and visitors on your site.
- Lead the project safety culture through utilisation of the safety management systems.
- Provide a safe work environment for all employees, sub-contractors and visitors.
- Manage work activities and resources to meet established schedules.
- Resourcing: plant, equipment, material and people to meet project requirements. This includes recruitment and partnering to ensure resource requirements are met.
- Supervise sub-contractors activities to ensure that quality, safety and progress are monitored and kept within project requirements, legislation, systems and procedures.
- Assist the General Superintendent in the performance and development of employees, including participation in probation reviews, performance appraisals, performance management and training and development of employees.
About You:
- Extensive experience in civil construction specifically: pipe laying, earthworks, subdivision, sewage, storm water, concreting, remedial works, marine environments.
- Solid experience in a superintendent or equivalent level within the civil construction industry.
- Extensive experience in work, health and safety.
- Experience in managing and delivering projects in excess of $10m.
- Sound computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to lead, motivate and influence others, including fostering a team focused and cohesive workforce.
- Use own initiate, apply deductive reasoning continually with cost effectiveness ensuring your delegated aspects of operations are on time and within budget.
- Demonstrate professionalism, diplomacy and discretion in all aspects of work and communication with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be subject to the satisfactory completion of pre-employment medical with drug and alcohol screening.
