Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family, and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs.

Our main services are in Wellington, Dubbo, Western Sydney, Penrith, Nepean, and Blue Mountains, and we provide outreach services to other towns and communities through our regional programs.

Join our awesome Aboriginal Children’s Therapy Team (ACTT) in Dubbo, NSW. We offer fantastic free Allied Health Service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children, aged 0 – 8 years of age in the Dubbo Area.

About the Role:

FULL TIME OR PART TIME WORKING ARRANGEMENTS WILL BE CONSIDERED

As Speech Pathologist on our team you will deliver care that’s both culturally spot on and centered around what our kids and families need.

You will team up with other amazing health care professionals to provide rewarding all round support to our children. We are here to create a system of care that respects and reflects the wonderful cultural background and experiences of our community, making sure everyone feels right at home on their health journey. This is an opportunity for new graduates or experienced professionals to join our team.

Essential Criteria:

  • High level of clinical skills in speech pathology, including assessment and intervention, as well as the ability to manage a paediatric caseload
  • Ability to work unsupervised, manage and prioritise work and respond to complex situations in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues that impact on Aboriginal people and Aboriginal communities
  • Demonstrated high level of communication skills (written and verbal) including negotiation and advocacy skills, and the ability to communicate with Aboriginal people
  • Demonstrated experience in the utilisation of client software packages and Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Recognised degree in Speech Pathology and current registration with AHPRA with eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia

Desirable Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting quality activities
  • Ability to establish working partnerships with government and non government organisations and community members
  • Understanding of childhood trauma and its impact on development

Mandatory compliance requirements of the position:

  • Driver’s License
  • National Criminal Record Check
  • Working With Children Check
  • Immunisation Record; Including evidence of Health Worker Vaccinations (DTP, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Annual Influenza) & evidence of COVID vaccination
