Waminda is seeking a passionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Wiyanga Mirriral Nanga-Mai Gunyah AOD Residential Rehabilitation Program.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, evidence-based and culturally safe nursing care to clients accessing Waminda’s Residential Rehabilitation Services. The role provides comprehensive assessment, care planning and clinical interventions using trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches for Aboriginal women experiencing alcohol and other drug related challenges. Working within Waminda’s Model of Care, this role provides ethical, client-centred and strengths-based nursing care that promotes safety, healing, wellbeing and self-determination. The Registered Nurse works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support women on their recovery journeys while ensuring compliance with professional, clinical and regulatory standards.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will:

Clinical Assessment & Nursing Care: deliver high-quality nursing care, conduct comprehensive health assessments, develop and evaluate care plans, and provide clinical interventions in a culturally safe and trauma-informed environment.

Recovery & Rehabilitation Support: support women experiencing alcohol and other drug challenges through withdrawal management, health education, chronic disease management, relapse prevention and wellbeing planning.

Clinical Leadership & Collaboration: provide clinical expertise and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, support staff and external health providers to coordinate holistic care.

Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy: build strong relationships with clients, families, health services and community partners to strengthen care pathways and access to culturally safe health services.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement: maintain accurate clinical documentation, participate in quality improvement activities, and contribute to service development, training and evidence-based practice initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- Identify as a Female person (genuine occupational requirement).
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Nursing with current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current NSW or ACT Driver’s Licence.
- Current Working with Children Check and National Criminal Record Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Demonstrated experience in assessment, care planning, care coordination and clinical service delivery.
- Experience working in alcohol and other drugs, rehabilitation, withdrawal management, mental health, primary healthcare or related settings.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed, recovery-oriented and culturally safe practice frameworks.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams while exercising sound clinical judgement and decision-making.
- Strong written communication and clinical documentation skills.
- High-level computer literacy and willingness to learn new systems.
