As part of our continued growth, our current WA Environment Manager is progressing into new opportunities within the Umwelt WA business. We are now seeking an experienced and people focused WA Environment Manager to lead and grow our Western Australian Environment team. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior environmental professional who enjoys combining technical leadership, business growth, mentoring and strategic direction within a collaborative national consultancy.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Environment Service Lead, this role is responsible for the operational, tactical and strategic success of the WA Environment team. You will work closely with senior leaders across the business to strengthen umwelt’s presence in the WA market while building a high performing and engaged team.

This is a leadership role suited to someone who thrives on building relationships, developing people, driving business growth and delivering high quality environmental outcomes across a range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor and support the WA Environment team to achieve strong technical and commercial outcomes
  • Drive business development activities and strengthen client relationships across the WA market
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership in environmental approvals and/or environmental management services
  • Develop and implement the WA Environment business strategy, including budgets, forecasting and growth initiatives
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive and high performing team culture
  • Oversee project delivery to ensure quality, financial performance and client satisfaction
  • Support recruitment, retention and development of environmental professionals within the WA team
  • Promote continuous improvement, safety leadership and adherence to quality management systems and company values
  • Collaborate with the WA Regional Director and other senior leaders to deliver the WA Regional Strategy.

About You:

You are an experienced environmental leader who combines strong technical capability with commercial acumen and a genuine passion for developing people.

You will also bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience leading environmental teams within consulting or a related industry
  • Ability to lead and drive a positive, inclusive and high performing team culture
  • Strong knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, approvals and regulatory frameworks
  • Proven experience in business development, client relationship management and strategic growth
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Financial management experience including budgeting, forecasting and resource planning
  • Strong project management and problem-solving capabilities
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to inspire and empower others
