Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Receivable Officer to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles and a passion for ensuring accurate and timely billing and collections. The Accounts Receivable Officer will play a critical role in maintaining positive customer relationships while ensuring that financial operations run smoothly and efficiently.
– Monitor accounts receivable aging reports, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of overdue accounts
– Daily bank reconciliation and receipt of invoices
– Researching and investigating discrepancies in invoices to determine the accuracy of charges
– Liaise with customers to address billing inquiries and resolve discrepancies
– Analyze accounts receivable data and prepare reports on collections, aging, and customer trends for management
– Maintain accurate customer records and ensure all transactions are recorded in the accounting software
– Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes by providing necessary documentation and reports
– Support the finance team in ad-hoc projects and improve accounts receivable processes as needed
– Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations regarding accounts receivable
Skills and Requirements:
– Strong understanding of accounts receivable and general accounting principles
– Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, Dynamics) and Microsoft Excel
– Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
– Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workloads efficiently
– Customer service orientation with strong negotiation skills
– High level use of Microsoft Excel (including formulas such as VLOOKUP or SUMIFS)
Qualifications:
– 1-3 years of experience in accounts receivable or similar finance role
– Solid understanding of financial reporting and accounts reconciliation processes
– Knowledge of Australian tax obligations, including GST, is advantageous
– Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
