The Tasmanian Walking Company (TWC) have been walking for over 30 years, offering amazing wilderness experiences to our guests in some of Tasmania’s most special and remote wilderness locations. We work to deliver a truly immersive experience as we create connections between people and place in remote cultural landscapes through our boutique multi-day walking experiences. Whilst our roots lie in Tassie, we operate on mainland Australia as The Australian Walking Company (AWC) and are excited to be experiencing a growth phase in the business as we introduce a number of new walks.

We are looking for a passionate People & Culture Advisor to join our Corporate Services team based in Brisbane. This full-time position will suit a true HR Generalist who possesses diverse skills across the HR function. You will be part of a close-knit team that is passionate about supporting our staff and cultivating positive change in line with our mission and values. Responsibilities will focus on the following broad areas:

  • Own and manage the company HRIS (Employment Hero) including reporting and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Payroll to ensure accuracy of employee data, correct award interpretation and payroll processing.
  • Drive the end-to-end recruitment process and support managers throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Maintain knowledge of the current HR/IR legislative landscape and liaise with external HR advisors as required to ensure the business is aware of and compliant with all obligations.
  • Coach and managers across employee relations matters, including performance management, workplace conflict and grievance resolution, ensuring a fair and compliant process is followed.
  • Regularly review and revise company policies, procedures, and HR documentation in collaboration with the Head of Corporate Services.
  • Provide regular intra-company communications through various social platforms with the aim to drive engagement.
  • Conduct regular reporting with a view to help the business better understand its workforce
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across People & Culture systems and processes.

What you will bring:

You will be a proactive, curious and people-focused individual, who can adapt to change and strive to achieve results. In addition, you will have:

  • 3-5 years’ experience working in human resources, supported by tertiary qualifications.
  • Experience in award interpretation and application (particularly Hospitality and Miscellaneous Awards)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to communicate with professionalism, warmth, and accuracy.
  • The ability to be discreet and ensure confidentiality is maintained.
  • Strong attention to detail with well-developed time management skills.
  • Experience using HRIS (Employment Hero highly desirable).
  • Experience with payroll compliance.
