The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West, Great South, Upper wheatbelt and Peel Regions of Western Australia.  SWAMS delivers a wide range of Services including: GP Clinics, Primary Health Care, Counselling, Out of Home Care, Aged Care and community host various programs. SWAMS has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.

About the role 

 

We are seeking a passionate, organised, and innovative Learning & Development Coordinator to drive learning excellence across our organisation. As the Learning & Development Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and coordinating learning and development initiatives across SWAMS.

Working closely with managers, program coordinators, subject matter experts, and key stakeholders, you will ensure our workforce has access to high-quality learning opportunities that support compliance, professional growth, and organisational capability. You will oversee our learning systems, coordinate mandatory and core competency training, support learning delivery teams, and contribute to the development and co-design of engaging learning content.

 

This pivotal role is responsible for: 

  • Identify and implement skills development plans and programs
  • Coordinate regular skills development needs analysis
  • Design and maintain a matrix of essential skills for each job role within SWAMS
  • Support Coordinators and Managers to develop training plans for employees
  • Establish strong working relationships with RTO’s/TAFEs and training providers within the regional
  • Develop and implement a Leadership Development Program for current and aspiring future leaders
  • Develop, establish and maintain a mentoring program
  • Reporting on training effectiveness and deliverables to funding bodies

    

About you 

 

You are a proactive and collaborative learning professional who enjoys working with people and driving positive organisational outcomes.

  • Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • Have experience in Learning and Development, Training, Human Resources, Organisational Development, or a related field.
  • Have strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Reside in the South West with local knowledge about the community
  • Have excellent organisational, communication, and project coordination abilities.
  • Have the ability to take direction, determine priorities and manage workloads in order to meet agreed timelines and objectives
