Description

Are you a freight forwarding operator who owns your work, communicates before being asked, and genuinely cares about getting the job done right?

If so, SSN Projects wants to hear from you. We’re a specialist project logistics and freight forwarding business that operates at the complex end of supply chain — and we’re looking for an experienced import operator to join our team, take ownership of a portfolio of shipments, and deliver remarkable outcomes for our clients.

The Role

Based in Brisbane QLD you’ll take end-to-end ownership of a portfolio of sea and air import shipments — from origin coordination right through to final delivery. You’ll be the primary operational contact for your clients, working closely with overseas agents, shipping lines, airlines, customs brokers, and transport providers to keep freight moving and clients informed.

Export shipments and project cargo will also come across your desk. This is a role for someone who is proactive by nature, not reactive by habit.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage a portfolio of FCL, LCL, and air import shipments from origin booking through to final delivery
  • Coordinate with overseas agents, shipping lines, and airlines to manage pre-arrival documentation, ETAs, and exceptions
  • Liaise directly with the customs broker to manage the customs clearance process, and DAFF/AQIS compliance requirements
  • Arrange port cartage, container unpacks, and last-mile delivery — keeping clients informed at every stage
  • Manage PRA/ERA processes, and all shipment documentation and records in CargoWise
  • Raise accurate invoices, accrue supplier costs, and close shipment files on time
  • Identify problems before they become issues — and bring solutions, not just updates
  • Manage export shipments and assist with project freight coordination as required
  • Build genuine relationships with clients, carriers, and service providers that deliver long-term value

What you Bring

  • 2–4 years of international freight forwarding experience with a strong imports focus (sea and air)
  • Proficiency in CargoWise (CW1)
  • Solid working knowledge of Australian customs, import compliance, and DAFF/AQIS biosecurity requirements
  • Confident FCL and LCL process knowledge — you know your way around a port, a depot, and a shipping line
  • Exceptional communication skills — you respond quickly, follow through, and keep people in the loop
  • A genuine ownership mindset — you don’t wait to be told; you act, and you own the outcome
  • Exposure to breakbulk, project cargo, or OOG freight is a real advantage
  • Experience with DG documentation is highly regarded
