Senior/Lead Platform Engineer — Continuous Delivery and DevEx

About the role

You’ll be working for a mature Australian fintech whose platform team is taking on a new mission: building the next generation of how engineers ship software — modern CI/CD, developer experience, and AI-augmented tooling. It’s an established team with a direct line to the Head of Engineering, and the scope and autonomy to do the work properly.

What you’ll work on

• Own a slice of the platform — pipelines, build, artefacts, or promotion. Set the technical direction in your area and bring engineers across the business along.
• Modern CI/CD — build the pipelines hundreds of engineers ship through every day. Affected builds, cache, content-aware artefacts, clean promotion across environments.
• Monorepos at scale — consolidate, optimise, and make CI fast and predictable for hundreds of engineers.
• High-frequency deployment — enabled by trunk-based development.
• AI-augmented developer tooling — PR review, build-failure triage, and LLM-driven self-serve tooling that genuinely changes the developer feedback loop.
• Supply-chain controls and governance that satisfy a regulated environment without slowing anyone down.
• DORA, SLOs, and deployment traceability — keeping delivery measurable and systems reliable for the customers they serve.

The kind of engineer we want to talk to

You’re the engineer other engineers go to when CI is flaky or a promotion goes wrong. You have hands-on experience with build hermeticity, feature flags, content-addressable artefacts, and rollback strategy — and a track record of building reliable, reproducible delivery systems. You believe a great delivery platform is invisible when it works and obvious when it doesn’t, and you’d rather build the thing engineers love.

You’ll bring

• Solid CI/CD platform experience — Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar.
• Hands-on with monorepos at scale (Nx, Turborepo, Bazel, or similar).
• Strong scripting: Python, Go, and/or Bash.
• AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm — operationally fluent.
• Genuine interest in continuous delivery, trunk-based development, and release engineering as a discipline.
• Curiosity about applying AI to developer workflows — and an instinct to build with it.

Nice to have

• Experience leading platform-engineering initiatives or mentoring engineers on CI/CD and delivery practices.
• Background in an APRA-regulated, PCI-scoped, or similar compliance environment.
• Migrated between CI or SCM platforms at scale.
• Built or operated AI-augmented developer tooling in production.
• Hands-on experience with supply-chain security (SLSA, signing, SBOMs).

Practicalities

• Sydney CBD (Wynyard) — hybrid, 3 days per week in office.
• Reports directly to the Head of Engineering.
• Established platform team, expanding into a new mission. Seeking Senior to Lead level engineers.
