Forklift Driver

Description

Summary:

We’re looking for a safety-conscious and reliable Forklift Driver who will support our waste handling operations within a production environment. The primary responsibility of this role is to operate a forklift to collect, transport, and dispose of cardboard waste and plastic waste from the production floor to the designated skip and compactor areas. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient site.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate a forklift to transport large cardboard bins and plastic waste containers from the production plant to the waste disposal area.
  • Safely load materials into skip bins, compactors, or designated waste areas.
  • Conduct regular checks on waste bin levels and respond promptly to removal needs to ensure production areas remain uncluttered and hazard-free.
  • Perform daily pre-start checks and ensure the forklift is clean and well-maintained.
  • Identify and report any safety issues, equipment faults, or waste management concerns to the supervisor.
  • Work in accordance with site-specific safety protocols and Safe Work Australia standards.
  • Maintain clear walkways and waste collection points in line with WHS policies.
  • Assist with general housekeeping or light duties when not operating the forklift.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid forklift operator certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
