We care for over 42,000 animals annually, relying on the generosity of animal lovers like you to fund 91% of our life-changing services.
Our Purpose: We exist for animals to live better lives.
About the Role
As a People & Culture Partner, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting leaders across a large, diverse and purpose-driven organisation.
This is a role for someone who thrives on complexity, enjoys solving people challenges and can confidently navigate the grey. You’ll partner closely with leaders to provide expert advice across employee relations, industrial relations, workplace investigations, performance management and organisational change, helping deliver fair, practical and risk-informed outcomes.
While employee and industrial relations form a significant part of the role, this is far more than case management. You’ll also contribute to broader People & Culture initiatives, organisational projects and capability-building activities that strengthen our people practices and support the future success of the organisation.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a confident, credible and emotionally intelligent People & Culture professional who thrives on building trusted relationships and solving complex people challenges.
You’ll be naturally curious, highly resilient and an exceptional communicator, with the ability to influence, coach and challenge stakeholders at all levels. You’re calm under pressure, comfortable navigating ambiguity and able to balance empathy with accountability when managing sensitive situations.
You bring a practical, solutions-focused mindset and strong commercial judgement, allowing you to cut through complexity and provide clear, balanced advice. You’re proactive rather than reactive, able to identify risks early, think critically and make sound decisions that support both people and organisational outcomes.
Just as importantly, you’re approachable, collaborative and genuinely enjoy partnering with leaders to help them build confidence, capability and high-performing teams. You’re someone who values fairness, integrity and consistency and takes pride in delivering outcomes that are both practical and principled.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
- Partner with leaders across the organisation, providing trusted advice and support on a wide range of people matters.
- Lead and manage complex employee and industrial relations matters, including grievances, misconduct, performance concerns and disciplinary processes.
- Conduct workplace investigations and support conflict resolution activities, ensuring procedural fairness and consistent outcomes.
- Coach and develop leaders to effectively manage performance, behaviour and workplace challenges.
- Provide advice on employment legislation, Awards, Industrial Agreements and organisational policies.
- Support organisational change initiatives, restructures and workforce projects.
- Partner with Injury Management stakeholders on complex workers compensation, return to work and fitness for duty matters.
- Identify people-related risks and support proactive intervention strategies.
- Analyse trends and insights from employee matters to inform continuous improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to broader People & Culture initiatives including policy development, HR process improvements and capability-building programs.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Law or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience (minimum 5 years) working in People & Culture Business Partner and/or Employee Relations specialist roles.
- Strong knowledge and ability to interpret, apply and provide comprehensive advice relating to employment legislation, Awards, Enterprise Agreements and industrial relations frameworks.
- Proven experience managing complex employee relations matters, workplace investigations and performance management processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to coach, guide and work with leaders and employees to strengthen working relationships while supporting the resolution and mediation of disputes.
- The ability to balance commercial, operational and people considerations to achieve practical outcomes.
- Experience coaching and influencing leaders at varying levels of an organisation.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent judgement, problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- A collaborative mindset and genuine alignment with the values and purpose of RSPCA Queensland.
