The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation (‘BCF’) is a registered charity dedicated to tackling the causes and effects of homelessness and poverty. Through food provision, social welfare, and education support, we help individuals reclaim their dignity and independence.

Our People & Culture function is central to this mission building a fair, safe and empowering environment for all staff and volunteers who deliver our services.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a proactive and motivated People & Culture (‘P&C’) Generalist to join our team and support the continued growth of our P&C function.

This is a broad generalist role across the employee lifecycle, with exposure to Employee Relations (‘ER’) and Industrial Relations (‘IR’) matters, alongside wider People & Culture activities including onboarding, compliance, documentation and day-to-day HR support.

You will work closely with the Head of Business & Culture and alongside an existing P&C Generalist, contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment across compliance, safety and employee relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Head of Business & Culture, you will:

  • Provide day-to-day HR advice and support to employees
  • Assist with ER matters including performance, conduct and workplace concerns
  • Support workplace investigations and documentation processes
  • Assist with Award interpretation and Fair Work compliance matters
  • Prepare contracts, variations, letters and other HR documentation
  • Respond to HR enquiries and provide timely, practical support to staff and leaders
  • Support onboarding, probation, offboarding and other employee lifecycle processes
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems
  • Assist with policy updates, compliance activities and broader P&C initiatives
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the P&C function

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, YOU WILL HAVE:

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Approximately 2–3 years of experience in a Human Resources (‘HR’) or People & Culture (‘P&C’) role
  • Exposure to Employee Relations (‘ER’) and Industrial Relations (‘IR’) matters
  • Basic understanding of Australian employment legislation and Award interpretation
  • Experience preparing HR documentation such as contracts, letters and correspondence
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • High levels of confidentiality, professionalism and attention to detail
  • A willingness to learn, take initiative and contribute across a broad range of HR activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and experience using HR systems (‘HRIS’)
