About the Role
Reporting to Head of Business Development, this exciting, permanent full-time position will play a pivotal role in driving new business revenue and strengthening commercial relationships across Netball Australia’s portfolio of assets and programs. This role is responsible for identifying and converting new partnership opportunities, developing compelling sales materials, and managing relationships with media agencies and brands to maximise the value of Netball Australia’s commercial ecosystem.Acting as a member of the Commercial team, the Commercial Sales Manager will work closely with the Head of Business Development and Head of Partnerships to deliver on growth targets, refine go-to-market strategies, and ensure that new partnerships align with the organisation’s brand and strategic objectives. Key responsibilities include:
Sales & Revenue Growth
- Lead new business generation by identifying, prospecting, and securing new commercial partners across corporate, media, and brand categories.
- Develop and manage a structured sales pipeline, maintaining a proactive approach to lead generation and conversion.
- Manage sales of ad hoc assets including digital, broadcast, and event inventory to drive incremental revenue.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media agencies and brand decision makers to identify and convert sponsorship and advertising opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align new partnership opportunities with the broader commercial strategy and brand positioning.
Sales Collateral & Market Development
- Lead the development of high-quality sales collateral, pitch decks, and proposal templates that effectively articulate Netball Australia’s value proposition.
- Work with the Marketing and Brand teams to ensure all sales materials reflect the organisation’s tone, visual identity, and positioning.
- Develop market insights and case studies to support commercial pitches and showcase partnership success stories.
- Support with the creation of category strategies, pricing models, and go-to-market plans.
- Support team to identify and submit award entries and/or public speaking opportunities at network events where relevant.
Commercial Strategy & Collaboration
- Partner with the Partnerships team to ensure smooth onboarding and transition of new partners post-sale.
- Contribute to the annual commercial plan, revenue forecasting, and target setting.
- Identify emerging trends in sponsorship, sports marketing, and media to inform proactive sales strategies.
- Represent Netball Australia at industry events, networking functions, and presentations to build brand and business visibility.
- Act as a senior commercial representative both internally and externally, fostering collaboration and promoting a culture of performance and accountability.
Financials
- Manage partnership carve out payments to Member Organisation’s where applicable.
- Contribute to development of and management of partner servicing budget.
Contract Management
- Collaborate with the Legal team to draft, review, and finalise commercial partnership contracts and agreements.
- Support on partnership renewals by preparing detailed documentation on existing partnerships, in conjunction with Head of Partnerships and Head of Business Development and identify areas for growth.
Staff Development
- Alignment with the broader department Commercial Strategy
- Business Plan and KPI development and management

- The role is based at Netball’s Head Office in Fitzroy/Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country where you will be spoilt for choice on great coffee spots!
