Senior Software Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to
help drive the evolution of our web based technologies to improve the speed,
quality and change the way financial advice is delivered to superannuation
members.
You will develop and integrate systems that underpin our
advice production capability, enabling the automated generation of financial
reports and supporting our transition to more scalable, technology-led advice
solutions.
This is a highly technical, collaborative and high-impact
role, with the opportunity to shape the future of advice delivery.
The role is office-based role, with a requirement to work
from our Melbourne office five days per week.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and enhance backend systems that support financial advice and superannuation products, with a strong focus on scalable Python-based solutions
- Build and maintain APIs and system integrations that enable advice production,
including financial calculations, reporting and workflow automation
- Contribute to the design of system architecture and technical solutions, ensuring
scalability, reliability and long-term maintainability
- Develop solutions that improve the efficiency, quality and consistency of financial
advice delivery through automation and intelligent workflows
- Collaborate with stakeholders, product owners and developers to translate business
requirements into practical, fit-for-purpose technical solutions
- Support the deployment of backend services across development, test and production
environments, ensuring reliable and efficient releases
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of infrastructure and deployment practices,
including containerisation and environment configuration
- Apply strong delivery discipline across planning, estimation and execution to ensure
high-quality outcomes aligned to business objectives
- Facilitate agile delivery practices, including sprint planning, stand-ups and
retrospectives, to support effective and continuous delivery
- Mentor other developers and contribute to improving engineering standards, code
quality and development practices
- Ensure solutions are secure, well-tested and aligned to regulatory and business
requirements, particularly in relation to financial data and reporting
About you
You are a highly capable, hands-on senior software engineer with deep backend development experience and a proven ability to build production-grade systems, ideally within financial services or regulated environments.
Essential
- Tertiary qualification (Masters) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience in Python backend development (FastAPI, Flask or Django).
- Expertise in API design, microservices and scalable system architecture.
- Experience building systems involving financial calculations, reporting outputs or document generation.
- Strong experience with SQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and data modelling.
- Experience working in Agile environments; Scrum certification highly regarded.
Highly regarded
- Experience in financial advice, superannuation or wealth platforms.
- Experience using AI to enhance product capability or automation.
- Experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms (preferably Azure).
- Experience building high-accuracy, auditable systems in regulated environments.
