About Fusion Markets
Fusion opened its doors to clients all around the world in mid-2019. Last year, we grew triple-digits across both revenue and clients, and we’re on pace to outdo that again in 2026, outpacing competitors who are decades older than us. We’re a talented team delivering trading products focused on the lowest possible costs for global clients looking to trade Forex, Cryptos, Stocks, Commodities and more. Our clients now trade close to $500 billion every month on our platforms worldwide.
We have big dreams, know-how, and a high bar for the talent we want on the bus* with us to get there. Finance can be serious, but we aren’t afraid to laugh along the way (*note: sorry, we don’t actually have our own bus). You’ll find us in a fancy building in South Yarra (Goldfields House), complete with 6-star amenities: two commercial-grade coffee machines, sparkling water taps, an infrared sauna, pool table and more. We’re also mid-renovation to double our space as the team keeps growing.
Fusion Markets is a place that cares deeply about our clients’ trading experience and how we can improve it, but even more about the people at Fusion who help make it all happen.
The Team You’ll Join
You’ll join a small, capable Data Team in Melbourne, reporting to the Head of Data and Trading Infrastructure. The Data Team runs the reporting and analytics platform the business relies on, including modern cloud stack (AWS, dbt, Hex) with GitHub and Notion as the way we build and ship. You’ll partner with an existing analyst and a group of strong data engineers. The pipes are in good shape, therefore what we need is the craft on top: crisp requirements, tidy SQL, solid dbt models, and dashboards that stakeholders trust.
What You Will Own
-
Close analytical tickets: Clarify the request, define the metric, deliver the answer, and confirm it lands with the stakeholder.
-
Build reporting people rely on (Hex): Create and maintain dashboards, filters, flags, and scheduled runs that stay accurate over time.
-
Improve the data model (dbt + SQL): Extend models, add tests, document assumptions, and follow existing team conventions.
-
Find root cause fast: Debug reporting issues from symptom → source → fix, and reduce the chance of repeat problems.
-
Work like an owner: Ship via GitHub pull requests, participate in review, and document decisions clearly in Notion so the team stays aligned.
What Makes You Great In This Role
-
Markets DNA: You’ve lived and breathed financial markets (or at least spent enough time there to know what matters).
-
Hands on the tools: GitHub, SQL, dbt and Python are part of your daily toolkit, not your wishlist.
-
Analytical rigour: You work from data to conclusion with a defensible chain of reasoning, and you show the workings.
-
Convention compliance: You follow existing team conventions rather than reinventing them
