Description

Part-time (0.6 FTE) | Executive Leadership Role

Djirra is seeking an experienced and values-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to help shape our financial future and support sustainable organisational growth. This newly created executive role offers a rare opportunity to influence how a respected Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation delivers services and achieves long-term impact for Aboriginal women and their children.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the CFO is a key member of the Senior Executive Team (SET) and provides strategic financial leadership across the organisation, including close engagement with the CEO and the Board. You will play a critical role in strengthening financial governance, enabling informed decision-making, and supporting Djirra’s strategic priorities in a culturally safe and values-aligned way.

About the role

The CFO leads Djirra’s financial strategy and provides financial assurance across the organisation. Reporting to the Executive Director, the role oversees financial planning, budgeting, risk management, reporting, and audit processes, and leads the finance function and team.

A core responsibility is ensuring robust compliance with government, statutory, fundraising, and philanthropic funding requirements. The CFO oversees contract management and project accounting, including cost allocation, budget and milestone tracking, and timely financial acquittals.

The role provides assurance to the CEO, Executive Director, and Senior Executive Team that funding is managed appropriately, risks are identified early, and compliance obligations are met, while strengthening internal controls and audit readiness.

This role is offered at 0.6 FTE initially, with the potential to increase hours as Djirra continues to grow.
