Description

Associate – Portfolio Services

Melbourne | Full Time Opportunity

Canaccord Genuity is one of Australia’s leading Capital Markets and Wealth Management firms, operating in the fast-paced world of financial services. As part of a global network spanning five continents, we combine local expertise with international reach to deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients.

In Australia, we employ more than 500 professionals across 12 offices and are committed to fostering a collaborative, high-performing and inclusive workplace where our people can thrive.

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Platform Services team in Melbourne.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in financial services. Whether you’re an early-career professional with industry experience or a recent graduate with a strong interest in investments and financial markets, you’ll receive hands-on training and exposure to a wide range of wealth management activities.

You’ll play a key role in supporting Accolade, Canaccord Genuity’s in-house portfolio administration service, which administers more than 4,400 client accounts and approximately $7.5 billion in funds under management.

Working at the centre of our Wealth Management business, you’ll partner with Advisers, Portfolio Managers, fund managers, custodians and other key stakeholders to support the onboarding, administration and ongoing management of client portfolios.

This role offers valuable exposure to investment products, portfolio administration and financial markets, providing an excellent foundation for future career opportunities within wealth management.

More than a traditional administration role, you’ll be trusted to solve problems, improve processes, support business growth and help deliver an exceptional experience for both clients and advisers. If you enjoy learning, working collaboratively and taking ownership of your work, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the onboarding and establishment of new client portfolios, including account setup, asset transfers and portfolio implementation.
  • Coordinating portfolio transitions from external brokers, custodians and investment platforms.
  • Administering managed fund transactions, including applications, redemptions and distribution processing.
  • Maintaining portfolio data, account records and cost base information to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Performing daily cash and stock reconciliations and investigating exceptions.
  • Responding to portfolio, transaction and account-related enquiries from advisers and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting the preparation of client reporting, including quarterly, ad hoc and end-of-financial-year reporting.
  • Managing account closures and client offboarding activities.
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support efficient service delivery.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance controls and improve the overall client and adviser experience.
  • Developing a strong understanding of our products, systems and operational processes, together with the associated risks and obligations.

About you:

We’re looking for a highly organised and proactive individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality outcomes.

You may already have experience in financial services, portfolio administration or client services. Equally, you may be a recent graduate looking for an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and establish your career within a leading wealth management business.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A degree in Finance, Commerce, Business, Economics or a related discipline.
  • An interest in financial markets, investments and wealth management.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to solve problems, think critically and take initiative.
  • Sound knowledge of financial markets, investment products or managed funds administration.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

Experience in portfolio administration, financial services or client service environments will be highly regarded.
