LOCATION: Adelaide Fringe

REPORTS TO: Head of Finance

START DATE: 19 January 2026

END DATE: 30 June 2027

EMPLOYMENT: Full time

SALARY: 65 – 70K per annum (pro rata), plus 12% superannuation

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Officer is responsible for day-to-day processing across accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and artist-related financial activities. Working closely with the Head of Finance and Accountant, this role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth payment processes across the organisation.

Internal Liaisons: Head of Finance, Accountant, Executive Director of Operations and Finance, Director & Chief Executive, Heads of Departments, and other Adelaide Fringe staff as required.

External Liaisons: Adelaide Fringe creditors and debtors, Bank SA, External Accountants and Artists

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage petty cash and Weel, including reconciliation and monitoring staff usage.
  • Process all accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in Xero, ensuring accuracy and appropriate approvals.
  • Prepare and send invoices to debtors, follow up outstanding payments, and maintain up-to-date debtor records.
  • Conduct regular bank and credit card reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain accurate artist financial records in Xero and support box office reconciliation activities.
  • Act as the first point of contact for Xero and other finance systems, supporting staff access and system queries.
  • Ensure correct levels of access and adherence to processes within Xero.
  • Assist in budget tracking, maintaining supporting schedules and systems.
  • Support cash flow management processes through accurate and timely data entry and monitoring.
  • Assist the Head of Finance and Accountant in preparing budget information and documentation.
  • Support the contractor payment schedule, ensuring invoices are processed and paid on time.
  • Maintain correct use of Xero, ensuring service agreements and supporting documentation are recorded appropriately.
  • Use systems such as Zahara, Xero, ClickUp and AVR to perform finance duties.
  • Troubleshoot routine finance issues and escalate where appropriate.
  • Support the financial accounting and reconciliation of artist box office income.
  • Assist in preparing artist settlement statements and ensure payments are processed accurately and on time, taking into account contractual requirements and conditions.
  • Assist with BAS preparation, annual audits and financial statement support, working with the Accountant, Head of Finance, external auditors and All in Advisory.
  • Perform other duties as required. Tasks may vary at the discretion of the manager, and flexibility is required to support the organisation’s financial operations.

ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE CRITERIA

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar finance position
  • Proficiency with accounting software (Xero highly regarded) and intermediate Excel skills
  • Strong organisational, time-management and problem-solving abilities
  • A positive, collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • A relevant business, accounting or finance qualification (or working towards one) is desirable
