About us
Benmax has been family-owned and operated since 1986, built on a straightforward philosophy: do the right thing, deliver quality work, and treat people well. With more than 200 people across Australia, we have grown into one of the country’s most trusted mechanical services and HVAC businesses, taking on some of the most complex projects in the industry. We are now scaling rapidly to support a major AI-infrastructure rollout spanning multiple domestic and international sites, and we are building the supply chain function that underpins the program.
About the role
The Sales & Operations Planning Lead sits at the centre of the supply chain function, responsible for ensuring the program runs to plan. This is a forward-looking role that demands analytical discipline, sound judgement, and the ability to provide a clear and credible picture of what needs to happen, and when, so the business can make good decisions with confidence.
You will own the demand versus supply plan and the master schedule, and you will need to be equally comfortable working through the detail of a planning model and presenting a forward view to senior leadership.
In the early phase, the role involves personally tracking supplier commitments and expediting critical items while the planning discipline is established. As the function matures, that execution work will be distributed and the focus will shift entirely to forward-looking planning and control. We are seeking a candidate with genuine planning rigour, strong analytical capability, and the judgement to know when to escalate and when to act.
You can expect to:
- Build and maintain the demand versus supply model across projects, production, and suppliers
- Run the S&OP process, aligning what is required with what can realistically be delivered
- Model production and supply capacity to provide a credible, forward view of program deliverability
- Own the master procurement and delivery schedule and translate it into clear requirements for the broader supply chain team
- Set inventory strategy in line with supply risk, balancing buffer stock, just-in-time, and risk stock considerations
- Identify shortfalls, capacity constraints, long-lead items, and bottlenecks early and flag risks before they become problems
- Define the planning logic, rules, and outputs that underpin the models and tracker
- Chair the planning cadence that keeps the broader team aligned to the same numbers
- In the early phase, track critical supplier commitments and expedite at-risk items
What you will bring
- Demonstrated demand and supply planning experience, ideally within an S&OP process
- Excellent data, modelling, and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- The ability to model capacity and constraints and translate them into a credible schedule
- Strong comfort working with planning models, data, and reporting tools
- A risk-identification mindset, with a track record of spotting shortfalls and bottlenecks before they become problems
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills across procurement, logistics, manufacturing, and site teams
Desirable experience
- Experience establishing or maturing an S&OP process from scratch
- Familiarity with ERP and advanced planning and scheduling systems
- Data and automation skills such as Power BI, SQL or scripting
- Experience within a project, construction, or manufacturing environment
- Experience scaling a planning function through a period of rapid growth
