The Opportunity
The Senior People & Culture Officer is a key role within Anmac’s Corporate Services team, supporting the delivery of a high‑performing, safe and values‑aligned workplace.
Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, the role leads the design, implementation and embedding of ANMAC’s WHS framework while delivering high-quality generalist HR support across recruitment, employee relations, policy, compliance and workforce reporting. It is a dual-focus role that ensures ANMAC meets its safety obligations while building the people capability and experience needed to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation and ongoing management of Anmac’s Work Health and Safety (WHS) framework, ensuring compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (ACT) and maintaining a proactive, audit‑ready safety culture.
- Manage WHS incident processes end‑to‑end, including reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, corrective actions and accurate recordkeeping.
- Conduct and coordinate workplace risk assessments, translating findings into practical mitigation strategies and ensuring actions are implemented and monitored.
- Deliver WHS inductions, training and safety briefings, and lead the WHS Committee, ensuring governance requirements are met and outcomes are documented and followed through.
- Provide high‑quality HR generalist support across recruitment, employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation and workforce matters.
- Draft, review and maintain HR and WHS policies and procedures, ensuring legislative compliance and alignment with best practice.
- Lead end‑to‑end recruitment and onboarding processes, supporting positive candidate and new starter experiences aligned with Anmac’s values.
- Own and administer Employment Hero as Anmac’s HRIS, acting as the internal subject matter expert, supporting managers and staff, maintaining data integrity and driving continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate HR and WHS records and produce workforce and safety reports, analysing trends and providing insights to support organisational decision‑making.
- Support employee engagement, wellbeing and culture initiatives, contributing to a safe, inclusive and high‑performing workplace.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance and support to the People & Culture Officer, contributing to team capability, consistency and effective service delivery.
- Support office and facilities coordination activities as required to ensure a safe, functional and productive work environment.
About You
You are an experienced People & Culture professional with a strong generalist background and demonstrated capability in WHS management. You are confident operating in a hands‑on role, balancing compliance requirements with practical, people‑focused solutions.
You bring strong judgement, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with managers and stakeholders across the organisation. You are comfortable working in a purpose‑driven environment and take pride in building systems, processes and relationships that support both organisational outcomes and employee experience.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Work Health and Safety, Business Administration or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience in a generalist HR role with responsibility for WHS coordination or program management
- Sound knowledge of Australian employment and WHS legislation
- Experience managing recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle processes
- Experience using HR information systems (Employment Hero highly regarded)
- Experience in not‑for‑profit, healthcare, regulatory or professional services environments is highly regarded
