Role Description
Reporting directly to our Chief Operating Officer, this is an exciting opportunity for a Risk & Compliance Manager to join the 1Cover Group, based in Sydney, NSW. This is more than just a compliance role – it’s your chance to lead, influence and support our people to make confident, informed decisions that align with our risk appetite and values. You’ll play a key role in managing compliance activities, overseeing the complaints team and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements in an innovative and growing business.
What You’ll Do:
Be the expert advisor on regulatory obligations
— keeping us ahead of changes from ASIC, APRA, and evolving legislation.
Build and embed a strong risk culture
— making sound risk practices part of everyday business across every team.
Own the risk narrative
— monitor the status of audit and risk issues assisting to drive timely resolution and deliver reports to our Executive Team and Board.
Lead and inspire
— mentor a high-performing team, supporting professional development and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
Be our ethical compass
— manage relationships with regulators, auditors, and stakeholders, ensuring the company remains both compliant and confident.
Drive continuous improvement
— oversee incident management, track remediation efforts, and ensure we’re always getting better.
Your Experience & Personal Attributes:
- Experience in risk, compliance or governance roles within financial services
- Compliance Management and Regulatory Compliance skills
- You have strong analytical skills for data interpretation and decision-making
- You’re proactive and have excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- People management skills
- Relevant certifications or experience in compliance or risk management
- Information Security knowledge for maintaining data security desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or related field desirable
