About the Role:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of accounts payable and payroll functions using Xero. You will ensure supplier payments, payroll processing, reconciliations, compliance obligations, and financial records are maintained accurately and professionally.

You will play a key role in supporting operational efficiency, audit readiness, and financial governance across the organisation. You will work every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable:

  • Process supplier invoices and bills accurately in Xero
  • Apply correct GL coding, GST treatment and project/funding allocations
  • Manage supplier payments and EFT/ABA files
  • Maintain supplier records and supporting documentation
  • Reconcile company credit cards and staff reimbursements
  • Respond to supplier enquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly

Payroll:

  • Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time using Xero Payroll
  • Maintain employee payroll records, leave balances and pay templates
  • Administer allowances, overtime, leave loading, superannuation and PAYG
  • Lodge Single Touch Payroll (STP) each pay cycle
  • Process new starters, variations, terminations and final pays
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll reports

Governance & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with ATO, Fair Work and superannuation requirements
  • Support audits, funding acquittals and reporting obligations
  • Maintain confidentiality and strong financial controls
  • Assist with improving payroll and finance systems and processes

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in Accounts Payable and Payroll
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero Accounting and Xero Payroll
  • Understanding of payroll legislation, awards and superannuation obligations
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work autonomously
  • Experience within not-for-profit, Aboriginal organisations or grant-funded environments will be highly regarded

What We Offer:

  • Salary: $80-85K + super + salary sacrificing (Pro-rated)
  • 1 extra week of annual leave + paid shut down period during Christmas (total 7 weeks | Pro-rated)
