Join a team committed to advancing access to justice across Logan and surrounding communities. We are seeking a capable, values-driven Solicitor to join YFS Legal in a diverse and rewarding generalist role.

YFS Legal is Logan’s only community legal centre. For more than 30 years, we have supported people experiencing significant barriers to accessing legal assistance. About the role

This is a dynamic and rewarding position in which you will work directly with people experiencing disadvantage, delivering legal assistance across a broad range of practice areas within a community legal centre setting.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide legal advice, minor assistance and casework across areas including domestic and family violence, family law, child protection and civil law
  • Appear as a Domestic Violence Duty Lawyer across multiple court locations
  • Represent clients in relevant courts and tribunals, in line with service priorities and funding requirements
  • Deliver community legal education (CLE) to improve legal capability and empower individuals to understand their rights
  • Work collaboratively with internal multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to provide holistic, client-centred support
  • Contribute to law reform, policy development and sector advocacy initiatives

This role involves regular attendance at court locations, including Beenleigh, Cleveland and Beaudesert.

 

About you

You are a motivated and adaptable solicitor with a demonstrated commitment to social justice and working alongside people experiencing vulnerability and disadvantage. You bring strong professional capability, sound judgement and a client-centred approach to service delivery.

You will have:

  • A current Queensland Practising Certificate
  • Minimum two years’ post-admission experience
  • Demonstrated experience, or a strong interest, in domestic and family violence, family law, child protection and/or civil law
  • A well-developed client-centred and trauma-informed approach to legal practice
  • Excellent communication, advocacy and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultural safety, particularly in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
