Finance Business Partner

Glendenning, New South Wales 2761, Australia • Full-time

Role Type

Permanent • Full-time • Mid-level Senior

Description

Whites Group is an energetic and progressive Australian Family-owned business that is geared for growth

We are a key supplier to both the Retail Home Improvement and Rural Hardware markets.

Being a part of the Whites family means you benefit from and contribute to a great team culture. We don’t have Values, we live them! Our people are the most important resource we have, and we take the time to recognise and reward them and provide an environment that is flexible and supportive.

We currently have an opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to join our team based at Glendenning (hybrid-work available). Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer this role would be ideal for someone early in their career who wants hands-on exposure to the operational side of the business — including shop floor/warehouse engagement, operational trade-offs, project work and building commercial capability — rather than a purely accounting-focused position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with operational and functional leaders to provide financial insight, constructive challenge and decision support
  • Translate financial performance into clear commercial insights for non-finance stakeholders
  • Support business cases, ROI analysis, investment appraisals and post-implementation reviews
  • Support and track cost-out and efficiency programs across the business
  • Work with non-finance teams to identify opportunities, quantify benefits, and track delivery against targets
  • Maintain a central view of initiatives including financial validation and reporting
  • Prepare and analyse monthly reporting focused on cost drivers, operational variances and margin performance
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and rolling forecasts
  • Deliver ad-hoc analysis to support pricing, make-vs-buy decisions and operational trade-offs
  • Improve finance processes, reporting and tools to make insights easier to access and act on
  • Support automation and simplification where possible (including smart use of AI tools)
  • Build strong relationships so Finance is seen as a partner, not a gatekeeper

What you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Senior Product Manager or Category Manager role
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics (or similar)
  • Graduate to 5 years experience in commercial finance, management accounting, business analysis, or public accounting with strong commercial exposure
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets
  • Ability to communicate clearly and influence non-finance stakeholders
  • Curiosity, a proactive mindset, and willingness to challenge the status quo
  • Comfortable using AI to improve processes and efficiency
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution or logistics (desirable not essential)
  • Exposure to ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Pronto) (desirable not essential)
  • Progress toward or interest in CA/CPA (desirable not essential)
