Your contribution to the team includes

The Finance Business Partner will play a critical role in driving financial insight, accuracy, and accountability across the Club, with a particular focus on supporting the Commercial & Consumer Departments and broader operational units. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role is responsible for delivering high-quality reporting and business analysis to support the decision making across the club. This role is also responsible for:

Financial Control

  • Support the preparation of accurate and timely financial information
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Implement internal controls and financial policies to safeguard the club’s interests.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks affecting the club’s operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in finance processes, systems and control to enhance efficiencies and business experience.
  • Lead the coordination and consolidation of monthly departmental financial data to support accurate and timely forecasting
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial results including preparation of FARM and board papers
  • Maintain a clear audit trail and documentation of all forecast assumptions and department inputs
  • Review and update allocated Balance Sheet reconciliations for accuracy and completeness

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Support the COO and Head of Finance in the completion and execution of the club wide strategic business plan, ensuring financial alignment with organisation objectives.
  • Improve, maintain, and enhance reporting processes within Workday Adaptive, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility of financial data
  • Undertake short and long-term project analysis to assist in commercial decision making, including playing an effective role in stadium, economic, partnership agreements, new revenue opportunities and expenditure analysis by providing financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting & Reporting.
  • Liaise with AFL counterparts to complete CFR and quarterly reporting.
  • Work with a selection of department managers to complete yearly budgets and monthly forecasts.

Month End, Year End Processes and Statutory Compliance

  • Assist with the month-end accounting process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with financial controls
  • Play a key role working with the Head of Finance to deliver the end of year result, financial statements and audit requirements.

Skills and experience

  • Relevant finance/business degree
  • CA / CPA qualified
  • 3-6 years accounting experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards
  • Knowledge of D365 and Workday Adaptive
  • Effective time management
  • Attention to detail
  • Intermediate team leadership skills
