About the Role We are seeking a skilled and reliable Vehicle Spray Painter with an interest or experience in heavy vehicles (trucks, buses, trailers, or machinery) to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role focused on delivering high-quality paint finishes while maintaining strict safety and environmental standards.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare heavy vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, cleaning, and priming
  • Remove contaminants such as dirt, grease, and rust to ensure proper coating adhesion
  • Mix and match paint colours to achieve accurate and consistent finishes
  • Apply primers, base coats, and clear coats using spray guns and related equipment
  • Ensure smooth, even coverage with high attention to detail
  • Inspect completed work and carry out touch-ups or refinishing as required
  • Maintain and clean spray equipment, compressors, and paint booths
  • Monitor equipment performance and report any faults
  • Accurately complete job documentation, including paint specifications and usage
  • Comply with all workplace health, safety, and environmental requirements

 

About You

  • Trade qualification in Automotive Refinishing or similar (highly regarded)
  • Experience in spray painting (heavy vehicle experience advantageous but not essential)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and within a team
  • Good communication skills and a positive work ethic
  • Understanding of WHS practices and safe handling of materials

 

Work Health & Safety

  • Follow all WHS policies, procedures, and safe work practices
  • Use appropriate PPE at all times (respirators, gloves, eye protection)
  • Report hazards, incidents, and equipment issues promptly
  • Adhere to environmental guidelines for paint handling and disposal

 

Reporting Line Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor / Branch Manager, you will work closely with a supportive team to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality results.
