Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation dedicated to empowering Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family, and community health and wellbeing through a range of clinical and community programs.

Our core services operate across Wellington, Dubbo, Western Sydney, Penrith, Nepean, and the Blue Mountains, with outreach programs supporting surrounding communities.

 

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Manager Human Resources, the Human Resources Project Officer will provide consistent, efficient, and high-quality administrative support across the HR function.

This is a 6-month fixed term opportunity suited to someone who enjoys structured, process-driven work and thrives in a fast-paced,environment. The role has a strong focus on HR coordination, systems implementation, and compliance, with less emphasis on performance management.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with HRIS implementations or organisational restructures.
  • Manage project timelines, milestones, and documentation for HR initiatives
  • Ensuring all processes align with Fair Work Act requirements and relevant Awards.
  • Working with internal teams on change management and policy updates.
  • Act as a point of contact for internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and in for project changes.
  • Provide timely and accurate HR support across the organisation
  • Act as the first point of contact for general HR enquiries
  • Maintain and update employee records within HRIS (Employment Hero)
  • Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes, including advertising, screening, and onboarding
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation and exit interviews
  • Assist in ensuring HR compliance and adherence to policies and procedures
  • Support coordination of training and learning and development activities
  • Assist with reporting, data management, and HR documentation
  • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources (Diploma or above)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar HR role
  • Demonstrated experience managing recruitment and onboarding processes
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer literacy, including MS Office Suite
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach
  • Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current NSW Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid Australian Driver’s Licence

 

Desirable:

  • Experience within a not-for-profit organisation
  • Experience using HRIS systems (e.g. Employment Hero)
  • Basic knowledge of Awards and the Fair Work Act
