Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family, and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs.

Our main services are in Wellington, Dubbo, Western Sydney, Penrith, Nepean, and Blue Mountains, and we provide outreach services to other towns and communities through our regional programs

The Opportunity

The Grants & Funding Officer will oversee the acquisition, management, compliance, and reporting of all grants and funding agreements. This role is central to ensuring WACHS maintains financial sustainability, compliance with legislation, and alignment with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue grant opportunities aligned with WACHS’ strategic goals.
  • Prepare and submit high-quality funding applications and proposals.
  • Oversee grant contracts, ensuring compliance with funding agreements and legal obligations.
  • Manage and monitor program budgets, including forecasting and cash flow analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with ACNC, Corporations Act, and funding body reporting requirements.
  • Provide governance and compliance reporting to the Executive Manager Grants, Governance & Compliance.
  • Develop systems to strengthen internal financial accountability and reporting.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with government departments, funders, and key stakeholders.

 

Mandatory Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in communications, research, writing or related field.
  • Recent contract and grant management experience across Government Health or similar environments.
  • Proven experience in funding proposals and grant administration (minimum 3 years experience) essential
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate across all levels.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
  • Current National Police Check.
  • Current NSW Working With Children Check.
  • Current Driver’s Licence valid in Australia.
  • Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination or valid medical exemption.
  • Legal right to live and work in Australia.
  • Ability to comply with WACHS Work Health & Safety obligations under the Work Health & Safety Act 2011 (NSW).
  • Commitment to privacy, confidentiality, and information security under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
  • This role requires compliance with funding agreements, governance obligations, and reporting standards.
