Located in the heart of the picturesque coastal village of Sawtell, the Sawtell Hotel is a well-established and highly regarded hospitality venue known for delivering quality food, great service and a welcoming atmosphere for locals and visitors alike.

With a busy bistro operation, strong community focus and commitment to quality, we are looking for a passionate and reliable Chef de Partie or Cook to join our kitchen team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head Chef and Sous Chef, you will play an important role in the day-to-day operation of our busy kitchen, assisting in the preparation and delivery of high-quality meals while maintaining exceptional food safety and cleanliness standards.

This position offers the opportunity to work within a supportive team environment while developing your culinary skills and hospitality career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard.
  • Assist with food preparation and service across various kitchen sections.
  • Maintain food quality, presentation and portion control standards.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements.
  • Assist with stock rotation, storage and inventory management.
  • Contribute to menu development and daily specials where appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
  • Work effectively within a fast-paced team environment.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Cook or similar kitchen role.
  • Relevant trade qualifications (desirable for Chef de Partie applicants).
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Availability to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
