The Role

Wanless Waste Management is seeking a confident, experienced Plant Operator to join our busy Sydney Recycling Park at Kemps Creek.

This role is ideal for an operator who is highly competent on excavators and front-end loaders, including grab work, and who has experience working in a transfer station or similar high-volume site. You’ll be operating plant daily, loading trucks, managing material flow and supporting safe, efficient site operations.

This is a hands-on operational role — applicants must be willing to undertake labouring and general yard duties when required.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Confidently operating excavators (including grab work) and front-end loaders
  • Loading out trucks using an excavator
  • Operating machinery from a bench position
  • Managing material movement across the recycling and transfer areas
  • Receiving, inspecting and directing incoming waste loads
  • Manually separating and recovering recyclable materials when required
  • Performing daily pre-starts and basic machinery maintenance
  • Maintaining clean, safe and efficient yard and tipping areas
  • Assisting customers and contractors onsite as required
  • Responding safely to spills, breakdowns or operational issues
  • Working in line with all safety, environmental and operational procedures

What We’re Looking For

This position is for a confident operator only. You must be able to operate independently, safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential:

  • Current Excavator and Front-End Loader tickets
  • Excavator grab experience
  • Proven experience loading out trucks with an excavator
  • Ability to confidently operate both excavators and loaders
  • Previous experience working at a transfer station, recycling facility or similar site
  • Willingness to undertake labouring and general yard duties
  • Strong safety focus and situational awareness
  • Good communication skills and reliability
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
  • Current driver’s licence and reliable transport
  • Ability to pass a medical and random Drug & Alcohol testing

Highly Regarded:

  • Forklift licence
  • HR licence
  • Welding skills or trade background

  • Rotational Saturdays: 6:30am – 12:00pm Overtime may be available depending on workload
