Your Role

Reporting to the National Risk & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our Wanless Way’ Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) programs across NSW.

You’ll work closely with operational teams to promote a positive safety culture, assist with workers compensation and return-to-work processes, conduct site audits and inspections, support training initiatives, and help drive continuous improvement across the business.

No two days will be the same. One day you may be conducting a site inspection, the next supporting a return-to-work plan, facilitating safety communications, or contributing to a major client tender submission.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of our Wanless Way HSEQ policies, procedures and systems
  • Conducting site audits, inspections and risk assessments across NSW operations
  • Assisting with incident investigations and corrective action management
  • Supporting workers compensation claims management and return-to-work programs
  • Building strong relationships with operational leaders and employees to promote a positive safety culture
  • Assisting with safety training, toolbox talks and awareness campaigns
  • Developing safety resources, communications and educational materials
  • Supporting wellness initiatives and employee wellbeing programs
  • Assisting with HSEQ reporting, compliance activities and document control
  • Contributing to tender submissions and client safety requirements

About you

You are a self-motivated safety minded person who enjoys working with people and influencing positive outcomes. You’re confident communicating with stakeholders at all levels and can effectively balance multiple priorities while working independently.

To be successful, you’ll bring:

  • Experience in a WHS, HSEQ, Safety or Risk-related role
  • Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety principles
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong administration, reporting and organisational abilities
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment
  • High attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills
  • Current driver’s licence and ability to regularly travel to all NSW sites: Kemps Creek, Smithfield, Seven Hills, Artarmon, Botany, Newcastle & more to come!
  • Ability to travel interstate for training and to meet the needs of the business

Highly Regarded

  • Cert IV WHS and/or Diploma WHS
  • Return to Work Coordinator training
  • Cert IV Training & Assessment
  • ICAM or incident investigation training
  • Experience within transport, logistics, waste management, recycling or manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements
  • Experience with workers compensation and injury management processes
