Waminda is seeking a passionate and culturally grounded Family Support Worker to deliver high-quality, holistic support to families participating in our Nabu Preservation and Restoration Program.

In this role, you will provide culturally led support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, birthing parents, babies, partners, and families across pregnancy, birth, and early parenting. You will play a key role in strengthening families, enhancing parenting capacity, and supporting safe, nurturing environments for children and young people.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver culturally safe, holistic family support aligned with Nabu principles, strengthening parenting, wellbeing, and child safety
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families through practical support, informal counselling, and strengths-based engagement
  • Coordinate wrap-around care, including referrals, service navigation, and advocacy across health and community systems
  • Collaborate with internal programs, Elders, and external partners to support integrated, culturally led care
  • Maintain accurate documentation, uphold professional and cultural standards, and participate in reflective practice and ongoing development

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families using culturally safe, trauma-informed approaches
  • Strong ability to engage respectfully with families, communities, and service partners, building trust and rapport
  • Skilled in delivering holistic, family-centred support, including advocacy, coordination, and service navigation
  • Cert IV in Community Services, Aboriginal Health, Social Science, or a related field (or willingness to obtain), with strong communication and documentation skills
  • Committed to Aboriginal self-determination, reflective practice, and working collaboratively within a team environment
