Waminda is looking for a passionate and dedicated Case Worker to join our Case Management Team!

In this rewarding role, you’ll work in close partnership with the Aboriginal Legal Service’s Family Violence Prevention Unit (FVPU), supporting Aboriginal women and their families through a holistic and family-centred approach. Your work will help empower individuals and communities to live safe, healthy lives free from the impacts of violence.

As part of a culturally safe and supportive team, you’ll provide compassionate case management, strong advocacy, and connect clients with vital services across housing, health, employment, education, and the justice system. You’ll collaborate with a range of stakeholders to ensure women can access both legal and non-legal supports tailored to their needs.

This includes assistance with:

  • Apprehended Violence Orders (AVOs)
  • Family law matters
  • Care and protection matters
  • Victims’ support services
  • Housing and tenancy issues
  • Civil law and debt matters

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver culturally safe, strengths-based case management to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence
  • Conduct holistic assessments and develop client-centred case plans
  • Provide advocacy and referrals across housing, health, education, employment, and justice systems
  • Support clients through legal processes, including attending court when required
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, ALS FVPU, and external stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold professional, ethical practice

About You

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience in case management, ideally within Aboriginal community settings
  • Understanding of domestic and family violence and trauma-informed practice
  • Strong knowledge of service systems (housing, justice, health, etc.)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Commitment to culturally safe, client-centred practice

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Community Services, Case Management, Social Work, or related field (or higher)
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Criminal Record Check
