Are you an HR leader who is equally at home in the detail and equally at the strategic level? Do you thrive when no two days look the same?
We are looking for a seasoned Head of Human Resources to cover a 9–12-month maternity leave period and hit the ground running in a fast-paced, growth oriented financial services business.
About us
Viridian Financial Group is a growing financial services organisation providing Financial Advice, Lending, and related Investment Services to clients across Australia. We operate across multiple brands and locations nationwide and are in an active phase of growth through mergers and acquisitions. Our people are at the center of everything we do, and the HR function plays a genuinely strategic role in how we grow and evolve.
About the role
This is not a traditional Head of HR role, you will be stepping into a position that sits at the intersection of HR, business operations and strategic advisory. You will lead a small team of three, partner closely with all levels of leadership, and manage everything from complex conduct matters to M&A due diligence, to group wide HR projects, all in the same week.
This role suits someone who is proactive, commercially minded, and genuinely passionate about building great people practices in a business that is moving fast.
Viridian is a business in motion, we are constantly evolving, exploring new digital solutions, and finding smarter ways to work. No two days are the same, and we are looking for someone who sees that as an opportunity rather than a challenge. If you thrive in a dynamic environment, bring fresh ideas to the table, and stay calm and solutions-focused when things move fast, you will fit right in here.
What you will be doing
- Leading the HR function across a geographically distributed workforce in a regulated environment
- Managing HR due diligence and employee onboarding as part of M&A activity, including reviewing contracts and identifying employment risk
- Handling complex, sensitive conduct and performance matters, including those with legal implications, with confidence and discretion
- Mentoring and directing a small HR team, providing clear priorities aligned to business strategy
- Partnering with finance and payroll to manage cost and headcount reporting
- Leading the development and maintenance of HR policies, partnering on vendor agreement reviews, and contributing to organisational Risk, Compliance, WHS and ISO governance frameworks alongside Legal and Compliance teams.
- Managing key HR Project (for example the annual Great Place To Work survey rollout and post-survey action planning)
- Providing strategic HR insight and reporting to executive leadership as needed
What we are looking for
- A tertiary qualification in Human Resources is essential, may include a Bachelor of Human Resources, a degree in Business, Commerce, Economics or Law with a major in Human Resources, or a postgraduate qualification such as a Master of Human Resources or equivalent
- 8 -10+ years of generalist HR experience with demonstrated capability across employee relations, HR operations and people strategy
- Deep knowledge of Australian employment law, the Fair Work Act 2009 and the National Employment Standards
- Proven experience managing complex conduct and performance matters, including matters involving legal representation
- Exposure to M&A activity from an HR perspective is highly regarded
- A natural leader who can develop a team that is still growing in experience and confidence
- Someone who can think strategically and act operationally, often at the same time
- High levels of integrity, discretion and professional judgement
- Experience in financial services or a similarly regulated industry preferred
Why join us
- Full-time or four-day-per-week arrangements considered, we are flexible for the right person
- A genuinely strategic HR seat, you will have real influence and a direct line to the CEO
- A business that is growing and evolving, with interesting and complex HR challenges
- Flexible hybrid working arrangements
- A collaborative and values-driven leadership team
