About the Program
The Permanency Support Program is a key NSW child protection initiative designed to provide safe, stable and nurturing long-term outcomes for children and young people who cannot live safely with their families. Veritas House partners in collaboration with the Department of Communities and Justice(DCJ), focusing on achieving timely permanency through restoration, guardianship, open adoption, or long-term care. Our team work closely with children, families, carers and communities to support healing, strengthen relationships, and promote lifelong connections through tailored case planning, therapeutic supports, and carer development, the PSP aims to improve stability, wellbeing, and life outcomes for children and young people.
About the role
We are inviting applicants for an emerging or experienced Leader to lead and support a dedicated casework team to deliver safe, stable and high-quality outcomes for children and young people in care. This role drives strong, child-centred and trauma-informed practice, ensuring compliance, accountability and continuous improvement across the program.
Through leadership, coaching and oversight of casework, the Team Leader plays a key role in achieving timely permanency outcomes, strengthening team capability, and building collaborative relationships with carers, families and stakeholders
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone passionate about making a meaningful difference—supporting teams to deliver consistent, culturally responsive and impactful care for children and young people.
Some of your core responsibilities will include;
· Lead, supervise and support a team of Caseworkers to deliver high-quality, child-centred services
· Provide regular reflective supervision, coaching and performance development to build team capability
· Oversee case management practice to ensure safe, stable and timely permanency outcomes
· Monitor compliance with legislative requirements, OOHC standards and organisational policies
· Guide quality case planning, decision-making and risk management across the team
· Review case documentation and provide feedback to ensure accuracy and continuous improvement
· Support and maintain effective relationships with carers, families and key stakeholders
· Contribute to operational planning, reporting and service improvement initiatives
· Participate in an on-call roster and manage escalations as required

About you
You are an empathetic and capable leader with strong experience in community services. You thrive in sometimes complex environments and can balance operational coordination, staff support, and direct client work. As part of our selection criteria our ideal candidate will
bring;
1. Minimum Diploma level qualifications in Community Services, Youth Work or similar along with
experience working with youth and families in a community services environment.
2. Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising casework teams, including the ability to provide coaching and reflective line management, to achieve high-quality outcomes for
children and young people.
3. Strong understanding of trauma informed practice, including the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experience on behaviour, development, attachment, and wellbeing of children and
young people in Out of Home Care.
4. Highly developed analytical and casework skills, with the ability to guide complex decision making, manage risk, and support staff in delivering a child-centred service. This includes
well-developed interpersonal, written communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. .
5. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a partnership approach with colleagues, the community and other agencies in all aspects of work.
6. Experience or knowledge of the Children’s Guardian accreditation process and NSW Statutory Out of Home Care Standards and Code of Practice.
7. High level of written, verbal and computer-based communication skills, including the use of data and case management reporting portals.
8. Experience in the Out-of-Home Care / Foster Care sec
