What you’ll do

No two days are the same — and that’s what makes this role rewarding. As a Residential Care Worker, you’ll:

Provide day-to-day care, guidance and emotional support to young people in a safe and nurturing home environment.

Use trauma-informed, strengths-based practices to help young people heal and build resilience.

Support the development of independent living skills such as cooking, budgeting, self-care and healthy routines.

Assist young people to connect with education and their community.

Act as a positive role model, demonstrating empathy, respect and appropriate boundaries.

Collaborate with caseworkers, therapists and other professionals to deliver holistic care and achieve individual goals.

Maintain clear and accurate documentation including shift reports, incident notes and case summaries.

Transport young people to appointments, school or recreational activities.

Your roster

This position operates on a four-week rotating roster, averaging around 55 hours per fortnight, with a balance of day, evening, weekend and sleepover shifts.

You must be able to commit to a consistent shift-work pattern that includes sleepovers, ensuring stability and routine for the young people in our care.

Here’s what you can expect:

Always double-staffed, with sleepovers being the only solo component.

A fair and balanced rotation designed to share weekends and sleepovers evenly across the team.

Reliable and consistent rostering – you’ll know your shifts well in advance.

Work–life balance built in, with consistent days off and recovery time between shifts.
