The Role

The Director of People and Culture is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources, training, and industrial relations within our organisation. This role plays a crucial part in fostering a positive and engaging work culture, attracting, and retaining talented individuals, and ensuring compliance with relevant labour laws and regulations.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Development and Delivery of the People and Culture Strategy
  • Overseeing Recruitment and Selection for the Buildings
  • All Employee relations matters ensuring open communication and a fair and inclusive work environment
  • Ensuring Performance management and development is undertaken in a fair and productive manner
  • Design and delivery of the Training and Development Plan
  • Ensuring all policies are compliant and adhered to
  • Managing Industrial relations matters including compliance with all legislation, negotiation and disputes, collaborating with external legal counsel as required.
  • Providing strong leadership to the People and Culture and wider Management team, acting as a partner, coach and mentor to foster a positive and inclusive environment.

This role is best suited to a leader who has a passion for partnering, coaching and mentoring managers and staff. The People and Culture team takes pride in supporting and partnering with the wider organisation to deliver an exceptional level of service to our teams. As well as strong leadership skills, our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Similar experience in a strategic People and Culture role within the Hospitality Industry
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a similar discipline
  • Ability to interpret industrial instruments, legislation and HR policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing and resolving complex industrial relations/employment relations matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with management at a senior level
  • Working knowledge of the Fair Work Act and its application
  • Proven experience with managing employee relations matters
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • High level of attention to detail and organisational skills to meet deadlines
