Description

National HSEQ Manager

Vaughan Infrastructure | Sydney or Brisbane | Full-Time, Permanent

Vaughan is one of the industry’s leading Utility Infrastructure Specialists across the eastern coast with a presence in NSW and QLD. We put our steady growth and trusted reputation with our clients down to our people — our staff, both site and office, are instrumental to our continued growth and achievements.

We operate a self-perform model across water, sewer, drainage, and underground infrastructure — which means our HSEQ function sits at the heart of real delivery, not just compliance paperwork.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced National HSEQ Manager to govern Vaughans Safety, Health & Wellbeing, Environmental, Quality, Sustainability, and Community Engagement systems across our NSW and QLD operations.

Reporting directly to the CEO and leading a national team of HSEQ Advisors, Coordinators, the Sustainability, Environmental Lead, Community Engagement Representatives, and a Risk Manager — this is a senior leadership role with real scope and real impact.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead, manage and develop a national HSEQ team across NSW and QLD
  • Govern and continually improve the Integrated Management System (IMS) across the business
  • Drive a genuine zero-harm culture through practical safety initiatives and strong field presence
  • Lead ICAM incident investigations and liaise with government and regulatory bodies
  • Oversee organisational-level risk assessment and resource allocation
  • Retain and manage key certifications: ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, FSC, CM3, Aveata
  • Develop policies, procedures, plans, SWMS, and all IMS documentation
  • Support tendering teams with HSEQ inputs for bids and proposals
  • Collate, track, and report HSEQ statistics to Senior Management
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant WH&S, environmental, and quality legislation nationally

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in a similar HSEQ leadership role, preferably in civil construction or utilities
  • Tertiary qualification in WHS, Environmental Management, or a related field
  • Lead Auditor: ISO 45001:2018 (OHS) and ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental)
  • ICAM Lead Investigator accreditation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop interstate teams
  • Expert knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and codes of practice
  • Proven change management capability — you can shift culture, not just write a procedure
  • Strong stakeholder management: project teams, subcontractors, clients, regulators
  • Cert IV Training & Assessment and ISO 9001 Quality auditing experience (desirable)

What’s on Offer

  • A national leadership role with a direct CEO reporting line and a genuine seat at the table
  • The opportunity to shape HSEQ culture across major civil and utilities infrastructure projects
  • Competitive salary package with salary packaging and novated leasing options
  • Clear pathways for career progression and professional development
  • A supportive, down-to-earth team culture that values collaboration and initiative
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Employee discounts and referral program
  • Regular social events and wellbeing initiatives
  • Weekly gym classes (sponsored) — Sydney office
