Hume Riverina Community Legal Service (HRCLS), a program of Upper Murray Family Care (UMFC), is seeking a passionate and values-driven Lawyer to join our Civil Law Practice.
Working across regional, rural and cross-border communities, you will provide high-quality legal assistance to people who may otherwise struggle to access justice. Every day, you will help individuals and families navigate complex legal issues while contributing to positive, lasting change in the communities we serve.

About the Role
As a Lawyer within our Civil Law Practice, you will:
- Provide legal information, advice and ongoing casework to priority clients.
- Deliver duty lawyer services and court representation where required.
- Work collaboratively with partner organisations and community stakeholders.
- Deliver community legal education and secondary consultations.
- Contribute to law reform and systemic advocacy initiatives.
- Participate in reflective supervision and ongoing professional development.
- Deliver services within a trauma-informed, culturally safe and person-centred practice framework aligned with UMFC’s values and Sanctuary commitments.
About You

You will bring:
- Eligibility for a practising certificate in Victoria
- Experience (or strong interest) in civil law matters such as tenancy, fines, consumer, credit and debt, or insurance
- Demonstrated ability to work with clients experiencing trauma, family violence and complex needs
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to deliver community legal education
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team
- Experience providing representation in the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria and/or the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia will be highly regarded.
