Are you passionate about supporting children, young people and families?
UMFC is governed by a skills-based Board of up to nine Directors and, following the recent resignation of 2 board directors due to end of term, UMFC is seeking to appoint 2 new Board members.
We are looking for community-minded individuals who can contribute to the governance, leadership and diversity of our organisation. Ideally, applicants will have strong connections to the communities of the Ovens Murray region of Victoria and/or southern New South Wales.

UMFC has been providing place-based programs and services supporting children and families in their time of need for over 45 years. We are a medium-sized, values-based organisation that is owned by and accountable to our communities.

Our Board plays a critical role in ensuring our organisation remains relevant and sustainable for the benefit of our communities in North East Victoria and Southern NSW. Supporting children and families in our regional, rural and remote contexts requires a range of approaches that include providing services from our locations in Wodonga, Wangaratta and Albury as well as through partners within communities.

As a Director, you will contribute to effective governance, strategic direction and organisational sustainability, working collaboratively with fellow Directors and the Executive team. You will help guide UMFC’s mission, support innovation and growth, oversee risk and compliance, and ensure the organisation continues to deliver positive outcomes for the individuals, families and communities it serves.

Skills and Experience of Particular Interest
While applications from all suitably qualified candidates are welcome, the Board is particularly interested in hearing from individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Governance and Board leadership
- Finance, audit and risk
- Legal and regulatory compliance
The Commitment
The UMFC Board meets every two months, with Board sub committee meetings held in alternate months. Each Board member is expected to participate in at least one of the three Board sub committees.
This is a remunerated position. UMFC is committed to supporting the professional development of its Board members and invests in opportunities to develop governance skills.
