About the Role
The Risk Officer plays a key role in strengthening the organisation’s risk management practices by maintaining the risk register, supporting compliance, and enhancing the effectiveness of risk controls.
Working closely with the WHSR Manager, the role is responsible for ensuring accurate risk and incident data, delivering meaningful analysis and reporting,
and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The position also supports the
development of a proactive risk culture through stakeholder engagement, risk
workshops, training, and practical guidance that enables informed decision-making across the organisation.
About You
You are a proactive and analytical risk professional who enjoys turning data into meaningful insights and partnering with stakeholders to strengthen risk management practices across an organisation. You bring a strong understanding of risk, governance, and compliance principles, combined with the ability to influence, educate, and drive continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, you will bring
- Qualifications in Risk Management, Governance, Compliance, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience, preferably within the human and community services sector.
- Experience maintaining risk registers, incident management systems, and applying risk management principles within a governance framework.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and provide practical, evidence-based recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience preparing reports, dashboards, and insights from risk and incident data, supported by intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders, deliver training, and build risk capability across teams
- A proactive, adaptable, and detail-oriented approach, with a commitment to integrity, continuous improvement, and collaborative working relationships.
Desirable
- Experience administering risk management software, with exposure to HSI Donesafe highly regarded.
