Summary:

Tribal Warrior is seeking a dedicated Aboriginal Youth Mentor to join our team in Glebe, NSW. This full-time role is pivotal in supporting and empowering Aboriginal youth within the local community. As an Aboriginal Youth Mentor, you will deliver mentorship programs and engage with young people to help them build confidence, develop life skills and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-on-one and group mentoring to Aboriginal youth, offering guidance, support, and encouragement.
  • Developing and delivering educational and recreational programs that promote personal growth, cultural awareness, and community engagement, including camp planning and cultural days.
  • Building strong relationships with young people and their families to understand their unique needs and challenges.
  • Collaborating with community partners, schools, and other stakeholders to coordinate holistic support services.
  • Creating case plans, documenting progress, evaluating programme effectiveness, and reporting on key outcomes.
  • Promoting Tribal Warrior’s services and initiatives within the local Aboriginal community.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal youth in a mentoring or youth work capacity.
  • Strong understanding of the issues facing Aboriginal youth and a genuine commitment to supporting their wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with young people.
  • Creative and resourceful approach to programme design and delivery.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in youth work, community services, or a related field.
  • Aboriginality is a requirement for this role.
