Senior Accountant | Part-Time (3 days) | Darwin
Together Business Australia — First Nations-led Chartered Accounting practice
We’re a Darwin-based CA practice on Larrakia Country working with Aboriginal businesses, community-controlled organisations and not-for-profits across the Territory and beyond. Our clients are running real operations with real stakes, and our job is to make the compliance and financial infrastructure behind them work properly. We are Xero Community Partner of the Year and hold a verified SROI of $5.50 per $1 invested through our sister charity, Together Academy.
We’re hiring a Senior Accountant to join our small onshore team, three days a week, permanent part-time. Hours can be structured around school pick-up and drop-off. We mean it.
What you’ll actually do
You’ll carry a portfolio of BAS, financial statements and review-ready workpaper preparation across a mixed client base: Aboriginal corporations, Pty Ltds, trusts, incorporated associations and NFPs. You’ll work end-to-end on your files, from reconciliation review through to draft financials, with the Managing Director as your reviewer. You’ll also step into client conversations where it makes sense, particularly around month-end, BAS lodgement and year-end.
This is not a role where the technical work is queued up for you. You’ll own the flow.
What we’re looking for
- CA qualified (or in the final stages), with 4+ years post-graduate practice experience
- Confident preparing financial statements under the SDS framework and, ideally, ACNC and CATSI reporting
- Xero fluent. Karbon and Active Workpapers experience a plus, not required
- Comfortable holding client relationships directly
- Able to work independently to a review-ready standard
What matters to us
We work almost exclusively with First Nations organisations. You don’t need to be First Nations to work here, but you do need to genuinely want to work with First Nations clients, and you need to bring the cultural humility that goes with that. If you’ve worked in this space before, we’d love to hear about it. If you haven’t but you’re serious about learning, tell us that too.
