The Opportunity
Due to continued growth in our organisation, we have an opportunity a Senior Finance Officer to join our team. The Senior Finance Officer is responsible for overseeing end-to-end financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all accounting functions. Reporting to the Executive Manager of Finance, you will play a crucial role in ensuring organisational sustainability is maintained through effective financial management and adherence to relevant regulatory frameworks including child safety standards and NDIS requirements. You will ensure all financial practices align with governance and compliance obligations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining general ledger integrity and completing regular reconciliations.
- Support month-end and year-end processes, including reporting, audits, and compliance activities.
- Assist with end-to-end payroll in line with the SCHADS Award, including reconciliations, reporting, and payroll documentation.
- Maintain accurate financial and payroll records, ensuring correct coding and adherence to internal controls.
- Provide support and guidance to the finance team, contributing to workflow efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with NDIS requirements, child safety standards, and organisational policies, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in and/or demonstrable experience within the accounting/finance sector
- Proficiency in XERO and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of the SCHADS award, compliance, and application across 24/7 rostering.
- Demonstrated experience working within government-funded programs and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), including associated financial and compliance requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and customer service skills and the capacity to deal confidently and courteously with people at all levels.
- High attention to detail and analytical capability.
- Strong communication, Leadership and team management skills
- Hold a current valid ‘C’ class driver’s license with no restrictions.
- Hold, or be eligible to apply for, a Blue Card issued by the Queensland Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian or willing to apply.
- Hold, or be eligible to apply for an Application for Suitability Check by the Queensland Department of Child Safety or willing to apply.
- Current Licensed Care Service Check (LCS2) or willing to apply.
