Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Finance Manager to join our team in Hawthorn East, Victoria. The Finance Manager supports the Director of Finance by managing day-to-day finance operations, strengthening financial controls, coordinating reporting and supporting compliance obligations. The role provides oversight of core finance processes, supports audit readiness and governance reporting, partners with budget holders, and provides backup coverage for the Bookkeeper role during periods of absence.

Responsibilities:

      • Oversee day-to-day finance operations including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, reconciliations, month-end close and management reporting. [Employment Hero]
      • Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance obligations including ATO, superannuation, payroll tax, WorkCover, FBT and education-related reporting requirements, including HITS. [Employment Hero]
      • Maintain and improve financial controls, reconciliations, delegations, processes and documentation to support accuracy, transparency and audit readiness. [Employment Hero]
      • Manage accounts receivable follow-up, resolve escalated receivables discrepancies and queries, and provide backup support for receivables processes when required. [Employment Hero]
      • Reconcile superannuation contributions, PAYG withholding and salary packaging payments. [Employment Hero]
      • Build financial literacy and accountability by providing practical advice on budgets, grant acquittals, cost coding and finance processes. [Employment Hero]
      • Coordinate audit schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation for the annual external audit. [Employment Hero]
      • Support finance system improvements, process automation, reporting tools and cross-functional improvement initiatives. [Employment Hero]
      • Contribute to business transformation initiatives by embedding sound financial disciplines and fit-for-purpose reporting. [Employment Hero]
      • Partner with budget holders to support accurate coding, expenditure monitoring, forecasting and budget accountability. [Employment Hero]
      • Identify financial risks, process gaps and improvement opportunities, and recommend practical solutions. [Employment Hero]
      • Promote value-for-money decision-making while maintaining strong compliance, governance and service standards. [Employment Hero]
      • Provide backup coverage for the Bookkeeper role during periods of absence, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and related finance administration processes. [Employment Hero]
      • Support the evaluation and selection of a new finance system, ensuring requirements align with business needs, controls and efficiency opportunities. [Employment Hero]
      • Drive implementation of the new finance system, ensuring successful adoption of new processes and achievement of desired efficiencies and reporting outcomes
      • KEY SELECTION CRITERIA·
    • Min 5 years’ experience in a finance management role, including budgeting, reporting, reconciliations, compliance, controls and month-end processes.
    • ·Strong technical accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, variance analysis and decision-support skills as well as experience utilising AI for process efficiencies.
    • ·Working knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation, statutory reporting and audit preparation requirements.
    • ·Ability to provide practical finance advice to non-finance stakeholders and support budget accountability across the organisation.
    • ·Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Business,
    • ·CPA or equivalent industry experience; professional accounting membership. Proficiency with accounting systems, Microsoft Excel and finance reporting tools.
    • ·Experience in the Tertiary Education and NFP sectors will be highly regarded.
