We Are:
Terrain NRM is a community-driven, independent, not for profit environmental stewardship organisation. We think innovatively and act collaboratively, combining the latest science with local knowledge to develop sustainable solutions to increase the resilience of the rainforests, reefs, landscapes and local communities of Australia’s Wet Tropics region.
This role is offered as 0.8 to 1.0 full-time position (up to 36.25hrs per week), creating flexibility for the right person to negotiate desirable working arrangements. This is supported by a 2yr fixed term contract with potential for permanency based on outcomes and deliverables.
You Are:
This position will lead the delivery of Investment Attraction and Strategy by driving our Organisational and regional Natural Resources Management plans. You will lead development and actively build relationships that develop and attract funding proposals. A small team will support the position to collaborate across the organisation and with key current and potential external partners/stakeholders, including those in emerging markets.
Capabilities:
- Lead the development of strategic investment programs that increase the health and resilience of natural assets in the Wet Tropics region
- Lead planning and coordination of Organisation and regional plans and strategies
- Build and maintain constructive relationships with existing or potential funder and investors
- Drive and coordinate proposals, grants, opportunities and continuous improvements to improve business development
- Ensure our Organisational and regional plans are adopted in our planning and delivery
- Build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and key partners
- Support direct reports and multi-disciplinary teams to plan and prioritise risks, activities and team workloads
Skills and Knowledge:
- Proven experience in natural resource management, conservation, environmental science or environmental markets, including team leadership and program management
- Excellent written and verbal skills for developing reports, grant proposals, and facilitating networking and professional relationships
- Commercially astute, with a clear focus on quality, productivity, financial values and service outcomes
- Ability to lead and develop strategic plans, communications and partnerships frameworks,
- and deliver and monitor measurable outcomes
- Commitment to continuous learning and self-service practices
What’s next:
This role is based in the Wet Tropics region, with flexibility to work from one of Terrain’s offices, with hybrid work opportunities. Travel within the region will be required to support program and stakeholder engagement.
