Position Summary
Tangentyere Council
Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) is a community controlled Public Benevolent
Institution delivering human services and social enterprise activities for the
benefit of Aboriginal people from the Alice Springs Town Camps, urban Alice Springs,
and Central Australia.
The Municipals & Essential Services (MES) Team Leader is
responsible for Municipal & Essential Services which includes grounds and
roads maintenance, environmental and waste management, street lighting, power,
water, and sewage on Tangentyere Council Town Camps. The Municipal &
Essential Services Team Leader is responsible for their team to deliver scheduled
and unscheduled Municipal & Essential Services work on Town Camps to a high
standard. The Municipal & Essential Services Team Leader also is responsible
for the training of Municipal & Essential Services Team Members.
The MES Team Leader works closely with the Activities/MES
Coordinator to monitor team member performance and attendance, identify
suitable training, and ensure that Employability Skills are incorporated and
emphasised in daily tasks.
The role is also responsible for maintaining and housing
vehicles and equipment and ensuring WHS policies and procedures are understood
and adhered to. This includes Traffic Management Plans and Safe Work Method
Statements.
As part of your role, you will be
working with children, people with a disability and people who are vulnerable.

abuse of any kind and will take disciplinary action, including and up to
termination of employment, should we determine that abuse has taken place or
there has been a failure to report any suspected or alleged abuse.
Responsibilities
- ·Provide leadership for the Municipal &
Essential Services team to achieve required outcomes.
- ·Training and supervision of Municipal &
Essential Services Team members.
- ·Ensure MES Team proactively follows schedules
and punctually responds to Tangentyere Council MES requests for work.
- ·Develop positive relationships with communities
and stakeholders.
- ·Maintain up-to-date records and report on work
progress to the CDP/MES Coordinator.
- ·Ensure all vehicles, plant, and equipment are
maintained and secured in accordance with organisational policy.
- ·Perform safe and competent operational duties
for construction and maintenance works as required.
- ·Advocate and adhere to Tangentyere Council
occupational health and Safety policies and procedures.
- ·Assist with achieving quality management
objectives across the organisation.
- ·Assist with achieving safeguarding objectives
across the organisation.
- ·Assist with achieving compliance objectives
across the organisation.
- ·Other reasonable duties as required.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
Required
- ·An understanding of Aboriginal Culture and
issues impacting Indigenous people in Alice Springs.
- · Trade qualification or a minimum of five years
industry experience in municipal services, or in a related industry.
- ·Demonstrated experience in team supervision and
leadership and the ability to implement and supervise work schedules.
- ·Broad knowledge of the municipal services
contract and a clear understanding of embedding Employability Skills in daily
work tasks.
- ·Demonstrated ability to achieve organisational
goals and targets by effectively maintaining team engagement.
- ·Sound knowledge and relevant experience in the
municipal services delivery.
- ·Demonstrated experience of applying WHS
practices including undertaking risk assessments.
- ·Current licences and competencies for plant as
well as current Work zone traffic management qualifications.
- ·Current First Aid Certificate, or ability and
willingness to attain.
- ·Hold as a minimum a current Heavy Rigid vehicle
NT driver’s licence as a minimum.
- ·Current NT Working with Children (Ochre) Card, and
satisfactory Police Check.
