Tangentyere Council
Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) is a community controlled Public Benevolent
Institution delivering human services and social enterprise activities for the
benefit of Aboriginal people from the Alice Springs Town Camps, urban Alice
Springs, and Central Australia.
The Tangentyere Family Violence
Prevention Division’s (FVPD) approach is underpinned by the Northern
Territory’s Domestic, Family & Sexual Violence Reduction Framework
2018–2028: Safe, Respected, and Free from Violence and the National
Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010–2022. These
frameworks guide our work in addressing Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence
(DFSV) among Aboriginal community members residing in the Alice Springs Town
Camps.
FVPD is an integrated program
supporting men, women, young people, and children impacted by DFSV. It includes
Primary Prevention Programs, Early Intervention Programs and intervention
programs such as the Men’s Behaviour Change program.
This position, as the Primary
Prevention Program Manager, will support the Primary Prevention Program teams,
which, at the time of writing include: The Tangentyere Women’s Family Safety
Group, The Future Yayes Group, PARt Program, Supporting Healing for Families
Program, and the Girls Can Boys Can Program. The Primary Prevention Program
Manager will support with the primary prevention and early intervention teams,
with their group work, training, development of resources, materials, and
strategic direction of the programs, as well as supporting the team with
domestic, family and sexual violence referrals, risk assessments and safety
planning as these occur.
The Primary Prevention teams are guided
by the Tangentyere Women’s Family Safety Group (TWFSG) which is a group of Town Camp women
who work for a voice and stance against domestic, family, and sexual violence.
The Tangentyere Women’s Family Safety Group has been operating since 2014 and
meets weekly to plan, coordinate, advise, develop and/or deliver projects,
programs and/ or positions relating to domestic family and sexual violence
prevention, early intervention, and response.
The Primary Prevention Program Manager
will continue to be guided by and support the TWFSG so that they continue to
have a platform for their voice on the issues of domestic, family, and sexual
violence, as well as supporting the development and implementation of the group
and community work of the other programs and projects within the Family
Violence Prevention Division.
As part of your role, you will be
working with children, people with a disability and people who are vulnerable.
It is your obligation to always ensure their safety and report any concerns in
line with our duty of care obligations. We have zero tolerance when it comes to
abuse of any kind and will take disciplinary action, including and up to
termination of employment, should we determine that abuse has taken place or
there has been a failure to report any suspected or alleged abuse.
Responsibilities
· Provide specialist Domestic, Family and Sexual
Violence (DFSV) oversight and advice to internal and external stakeholders.
·Provide oversight, advice, guidance,
support and direction to the Primary Prevention Program teams with their work
in prevention and early intervention with the development and implementation of
resources, materials, training, support and program strategic direction.
·Provide oversight, advice and direction
to the Primary Prevention Program teams with domestic, family and sexual
violence referrals, risk assessments and safety planning as required.
·Provide oversight, advice, direction
and support to the Tangentyere Women’s Family Safety Group Coordinator in the
organisation, coordination, and delivery of weekly Women’s Family Safety Group
meetings, consultations, workshops and/or trainings.
·Provide specialist advice and support
to the Tangentyere Primary Prevention Programs leadership groups (TWFSG and
Future Yayes) to access spaces and platforms of advocacy and influence in the
area of domestic, family, and sexual violence prevention, early intervention,
and response.
·Provide regular supervision for members
of the Primary Prevention Program teams.
·Ensure relevant documentation and
report writing is completed on time and as required.
·Develop and maintain appropriate
stakeholder relationships, for example within the domestic, family, and sexual
violence sector.
·Continue to support the Tangentyere Primary
Prevention Programs leadership groups (TWFSG and Future Yayes) to access spaces
and platforms of advocacy and influence in the area of domestic, family, and
sexual violence prevention, early intervention, and response.
· Implement organisational objectives and develop and
recommend ongoing plans and programs relevant to the sector.
· Assist with achieving quality management objectives
across the organisation.
· Assist with achieving safeguarding objectives
across the organisation.
· Assist with achieving compliance objectives across
the organisation.
· Other reasonable duties as required.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
Required
- ·Tertiary Qualification in Community Development,
Social Work, Welfare Studies or other relevant qualification.
- ·Demonstrated understanding of, and a commitment
to, a gendered and intersectional analysis of domestic and family violence.
- ·Demonstrated strong program design, development,
and delivery skills in domestic and family violence programs.
- ·Demonstrated experience in advocacy work.
- ·Demonstrated experience in group work and
training delivery.
- ·Demonstrated ability to work cohesively and
contribute effectively within a team environment.
- ·Experience working alongside Central Australian
Aboriginal people.
- ·Excellent communication skills (both written and
verbal) and the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- ·Demonstrated strong administration, data
collection, analysis and writing skills.
- ·Current NT Drivers Licence, NT Working with
Children (Ochre) Card, and a satisfactory Police Check.
Desired
- ·Current First Aid Certificate, or ability and
willingness to attain.
- ·An understanding of Aboriginal culture as well
as a broad range of contemporary issues affecting Central Australian Aboriginal
people.
