Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) is a community controlled Public benevolent
Institution delivering human services and social enterprise activities for the
benefit of Aboriginal people from the Alice Springs Town Camps, urban Alice
Springs, and Central Australia.
Tangentyere Early Childhood Education (ECE) is an innovative
and unique program that supports Aboriginal children and youth to achieve
positive outcomes in education, safety, and wellbeing in the Alice Springs
Greater Region.
The Early Childhood Educator will be part of a small,
dynamic team tasked with improving access to Early Childhood Education (ECE)
for children in the 0-5-year-old age group living on Town Camps. The program
supports both children and their parents and carers to receive a positive start
to their child’s education journey.
The ECE Educator position will work closely with the ECE Coordinator
alongside community to help develop and deliver playgroups to support
Aboriginal families and children in Town Camp communities to feel safe and
connected to ECE and understand the importance of early childhood development. The
ECE Educator will work with other Tangentyere programs and approved external
agencies to ensure highly integrated practice and increased parental
participation in the crucial area of school readiness.
To be successful in this role you will have sound knowledge
of ECE pedagogies, EYL Framework and be able to apply these responsively within
Town Camps.
As part of your role, you will be
working with children, people with a disability and people who are vulnerable.
It is your obligation to always ensure their safety and report any concerns in
line with our duty of care obligations. We have zero tolerance when it comes to
abuse of any kind and will take disciplinary action, including and up to
termination of employment, should we determine that abuse has taken place or
there has been a failure to report any suspected or alleged abuse.
Responsibilities
- ·Deliver ECE parent and child support programs across
8 Town Camps to assist children to get ready for school.
- ·Provide pedagogical leadership, advice and
support to all staff, parents, and community members in this project.
- ·Work in collaboration with Community Coordinator
across Town Camps in the delivery of complementary ECE parent and child support
programs.
- ·Build and nurture partnerships with a range of
internal and approved external stakeholders to improve ECE programs.
- ·Maintain appropriate records on children’s
progress.
- ·Monitor and evaluate the program with the aim of
achieving continuous improvement in its outcomes and scaling the program up to
include other Town Camps.
- ·Assist with achieving quality management
objectives across the organisation.
- ·Assist with achieving safeguarding objectives
across the organisation.
- ·Assist with achieving compliance objectives
across the organisation.
- ·Other reasonable duties as required.
