About the Role

As a Commercial Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the business through strong financial leadership and commercial insight across Australia & New Zealand.

This role offers a clear pathway toward CFO succession over time, with increasing exposure to strategic, commercial, and enterprise finance leadership.

Partnering closely with Sales, Marketing, Revenue Growth, and Supply Chain teams and our leadership team in NZ you will provide financial guidance and analysis to support strategic decision-making, revenue growth, and profitability outcomes.

This is a highly collaborative and commercially focused role, combining financial planning, business partnering, and analytical expertise to influence key business decisions across pricing, promotions, investment planning, and commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Performance

  • Full P&L + balance sheet accountability
  • External stakeholder management (e.g. banks and auditors)
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across commercial operations
  • Analyse revenue, margin, and cost drivers to provide actionable business insights
  • Monitor key financial KPIs, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Provide scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis to support strategic and operational decisions
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting to support business performance

Commercial Business Partnering

  • Act as the key finance partner to Commercial and Sales teams
  • Support pricing, promotional planning, and revenue optimisation initiatives
  • Provide financial guidance on trade spend, new business initiatives, and investment decisions
  • Collaborate closely with Revenue Growth, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to align financial insights with commercial strategy
  • Support business cases and investment proposals with robust financial analysis

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and analytical capabilities
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of financial and ERP systems
  • Develop tools and models to streamline revenue tracking and profitability analysis
  • Improve visibility and reporting accuracy to support commercial decision-making

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team 
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, commercial awareness, and analytical excellence
  • Support collaboration and knowledge sharing across the wider finance function

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline
  • CA or CPA qualification
  • “Second-in-command” experience
  • 10-years’+ experience in finance, with strong exposure to commercial finance or business partnering
  • Proven exposure to utilising AI tools to enhance Finance Team productivity
  • Experience within FMCG, distribution, or retail environments highly regarded
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful business insights
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; experience with ERP/BI systems (e.g. SAP, NetSuite, Power BI)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to influence at all levels
